I always joke that I made this piece as a portrait of my partner. He has long hair and one day it curled, just like the buffalo’s horns. Making these realistic drawings isn’t really my style so I decided to make some colourful variations, making it appear as if the buffalo is standing in front of some very colourful 70’s wallpaper.
This intaglio print is a combination of dry point and aquatint techniques. The colourful background are created by pasting (painted) silk paper on the print with egg white. We call this the chine collé technique.
